Robotino (Babi Avelino and Ronald Dagonnier) in the Mad Conductor
During the four days of the workshop, participants will be invited to discover the new features of MadMapper 6 using the new timeline tool that will allow them to control a 6-axis robotic arm equipped with 2 webcams and a light.
Participants will be led to create a new mosaic of images using their own photos as well as images they will create on the spot with the help of a mini photo studio. The result, printed on the spot with a 3cm x 2cm Polaroid printer, will be displayed on a circular platter to make the most of the MadMapper 6 functionalities associated with a robotic arm.
The installation consists of a robotic arm equipped with two cameras, capturing photos placed on a round platform either in macro or with a standard lens. The robot can also rise up to capture the spectator. These images are projected onto a wall, thus creating a visual montage of their relationship. The robot moves erratically, seemingly attempting to understand the underlying human emotions and motivations. The projected images reveal intimate and sometimes conflictual moments of the artists' relationship, offering an emotional immersion to the spectators.
"The Illusion of Understanding," the concept that the artists are leveraging, aims to question the nature of human comprehension and its potential translation into robotic language. Through this immersive experience, the artists challenge our ability to grasp the complex relationships that surround us, inviting everyone to share their experience.
The goal is to allow participants to reflect on the emblematic moments of their personal relationships, while experimenting with the use of the "Mad Mapper" software to control the robotic arm, thus co-creating a universal narrative with the two guest artists.
